Heritage Preservation is now accepting applications for Program Assistant,
Collections Care Programs.
Heritage Preservation, located in Washington DC, is the nation's leading
nonprofit advocate for the proper care of all our cultural heritage -- works of art,
books and archives, documents and photographs, architecture, monuments, natural
science specimens, and family heirlooms. The Collections Care Programs department
is responsible for publication projects, inquiries by the public, assistance to
Heritage Preservation members, and administration of the Conservation
Assessment Program (CAP), a federal grant funded by the Institute of Museum and Library
Services (IMLS).
The ideal candidate for Program Assistant will have a BA in museum studies,
preservation, history, art history, or related humanities fields and experience
with office operations, particularly database management (FileMaker Pro). The
Program Assistant should be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, written
and oral communications skills, ability to meet deadlines, and a positive
attitude. This job is perfect for a recent college graduate who has had internship
experience with museums, historic sites, or arts organizations. Heritage
