The Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC,
pronounced "spinach") is a society devoted to collection management and
curation issues. This sounds like what you want. It's primary membership
is US and Canada (in that order), so should be applicable to your location.
Membership is inexpensive (although I can't remember how much at the
moment). They have an annual meeting, this year in Nova Scotia, with a
meeting theme, this year about conservation of marine material. Membership
includes a newsletter that often has such things as recent literature
reviews and bibliographies in addition to the regular "newsy" items. It
also includes "Collection Forum", with articles on curation.

Subject: journal/membership
Hi everyone
Just some more advice, but this time about memberships. I would like to
subscribe to a museum journal/society but I'm not sure which one. I can
only do one as my funds are limited. I am a Canadian and, as such, it would
have to be applicable to Canada, even if it is an American society. My main
interests are collections management, curatorial work,, and theoretical
heritage issues, although I suspect that a more general society would be
more beneficial. Basically, I'm dropping my membership in an archaeology
society and hoping to move it over to a museum-based group. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.
Thanks
Adrienne Roberts
