Jessica,
For our groundbreaking in 1990 we spray painted an ordinary shovel gold.
Afterwards it was added to the collection.

Subject: groundbreaking
We are looking for a "ceremonial" shovel that we can use to break ground
for
our new museum. Is anyone aware of a vendor who might sell such a
thing--like perhaps a silver-plated shovel or something else fancy.
Any leads welcome.
Thank you,
Jessica Ruskin
