I have other links like this from times past, but some
of the discourse about salaries has precipitated the
need to make this information available to the list.

When jobs are posted and/or when comparative salaries
are asked about, the greatest determinant, IMHO, to
whether a salary is valid or invalid, too high or too
low, is housing combined with cost of living in that
particular area. $30,000 a year may not be much of
anything in NYC or LA, but it could be a fortune in
Sioux City, Iowa.

One of the things to factor into your job search and
into your postings is a salary conversion factor.
What would you need to make in town X to have a
comparable standard of living in town Y?

For that reason, I am including the attached link. It
was done after a quick-and-dirty search because this
issue has been bugging me for some time. If and when
I get around to updating my page (when I quit running
the marathon in the fast lane of life), I think I'll
add it to the employment topics section.

Take a look at the attached. Play with it a bit so
that you get a better understanding, and then save the
link for comparison purposes so that, when jobs are
posted, you have an index against which to validate
for parity purposes:

The chart I'm recommending is in the middle of the
above web site.
