Carlyle House Historic Park in Alexandria, Virginia seeks a Curator of
Education.
The Carlyle House is an historic house museum interpreted to the life and
time of John Carlyle in Alexandria (1750-1780). Three full-time museum
professionals on staff. Accredited by the American Association of
Museums.
Curator of Education duties will include:
Overseeing all educational and interpretive programs; recruiting,
training, evaluating and supervising volunteer docents, scheduling and
teaching school programs, assisting with the development and
implementation of special museum programming, writing monthly docent
newsletter, researching future exhibits, and assisting the Director and
Curator with all aspects of museum operations
Full-time position with "comp" time. $27,733.00 annual salary with
excellent benefits. Yearly step and cost of living increases. Free
parking. Museum is owned and operated by the Northern Virginia Regional
Park Authority.
Requirements: Master's degree in museum studies or museum education or
combination of education and experience. Excellent communication and
writing skills necessary. Must be versatile, energetic and
people-oriented. Some night and weekend work required. Knowledge of
18th-century history and decorative arts helpful.
