GIS/ARGUS Specialist

GIS and database specialist to assist scientific staff with research and
collections management. GIS half-time duties include: digitizing, importing
coverages through the Internet and other media, data manipulation, writing
Avenue scripts and/or AMLs, and output of maps for analysis, publication,
and presentations. The specialist will provide technical support for
applications of ArcView and all of its extensions (e.g., Spatial Analyst,
3D Analyst, Internet Map Server, etc.) and will provide limited training to
staff. This person will also serve half-time as ARGUS Systems
Administrator, as well as, assist staff with other research software.
Duties include: providing ARGUS support to staff , working with collections
staff to maintain data standards, and managing software upgrade decisions.
Requires a minimum B.S. in Geology, Geography, Zoology, Anthropology,
Information Systems or related natural history disciplines; experience with
ArcView and ARC/INFO is mandatory; experience with other softwares (e.g.,
SYSTAT, PARADOX, SPSS, etc.) preferred, DMNH will provide training for
ARGUS. Salary commensurate upon experience.
