Position: Program Coordinator, Fruit and Vegetable Garden
Chicago Botanic Garden
Position Description
Primary responsibilities:
* Develop, implement and refine wide range of informal learning
programs including temporary exhibits and discovery carts, exhibit tours,
demonstrations and special events within 4-acre demonstration garden.
* Coordinate 75+ member volunteer corps to support program and garden
activities - includes recruitment, training, program management and
recognition of these valuable individuals.
* Work closely with garden staff to craft permanent and seasonal
interpretation of various garden areas and collections.
* Support sponsorship activities and assist in securing funding for
educational activities.
* Evaluate program effectiveness using standard museum evaluation
methodologies; refine programs as appropriate.
Requirements:
BA or BS in Education, Horticulture, Museum Studies or related field,
Master's Degree preferred. 3 years experience in public programming and
interest in working closely with volunteers and staff teams both very
desirable. Garden or botany experience helpful but not required. Excellent
communication skills, both oral and written. Tuesday through Saturday
workweek.
