The Museums Council of New York City will be meeting on February 28 at the
American Craft Museum at 40 W. 43rd Street

The meeting will begin at 6:00 with a reception and greeting by Museum
Director Holly Hotchner. From 6:30-7:30 we will have a tour of their new
exhibition "Defining Craft I."
This will be followed by dinner, and the meeting will end at 8:30.

There was a good article about this exhibition in this past Sunday's NY
Times Arts and Leisure. It is comprised of 150 works by American and
international artists, well-known and emerging, whose work has shaped the
history of craft over the past 25 years. The exhibition is drawn from the
American Craft Museum's permanent collection, with many new acquisitions,
donations, and promised gifts from noted collectors exhibited for the first
time.

The Museums Council of New York City was founded sixty years ago. There are
now over 90 member institutions, virtually all of the City's not for profit
museums. We meet several times each year at museums large and small to get
an insiders view of the museums' work, and to build a sense of community
among the City's museums. Participation in meetings is open to all levels
of staff and Board, as well as people who work in industries such as
exhibition design, not for profit services, etc.

The evening costs $25/participant. Please mail your payment to:

Amy Fischetti
Queens County Farm Museum
73-50 Little Neck Parkway
Floral Park, NY 11004.

Or call her to make a reservation at (718) 347-3276 x 13. If you make a
reservation and do not come, you must still reimburse the Council.

Please include your name and institution represented.

I hope you can join us. These are wonderful events.
