I am the director of a small museum and historic preservation commission
which employs a curator and PT assistant beside myself; we are dependent on
our volunteer corps for support. Currently, the volunteers are divided into
two committees, each having its own responsibilities. I have been
encountering some difficulty with certain volunteers in terms of their
parameters and autonomy (or lack thereof). I believe the parties involved
have good intentions; however, things do need to change. Any suggestions on
how to tactfully deal with such a situation? Also, does anyone see a
conflict of interest with regard to someone who volunteers at one museum and
is on the board of another (but similar) museum?
Thanks.
