Well if it paid more than waiting tables I'm sure actors would gladly do interpretation. :)
My undergrad degree is in theatre with an emphasis on costume history and design. I've found a multitude of uses for my theatre skills in the museum world - working in teams, basic design skills, public presentation, exhibit construction, writing, management skills, project management, design process, working with a diverse groups of people, etc. etc.
I consider myself very well-rounded for working in museums esp. museum education and exhibit design from my background in theatre.
