Perhaps Money magazine would like to know that a number of Children's
Museums have staged "haunted houses" at Halloween for fun and fund raising.
They were designed to be scary, but not to terrorize children...the theory
being that fright is OK if it is totally beyond the realm of possibility.
The first one, I believe was at the Indianapolis Children's Museum
many years ago...at least, 30. The Charleston, W.Va. C.M. had them
for a number of years, as did the Boston C.M....all were very
successful. The whole community gets involved by sponsoring
different parts of it...held in a large old house that is donated for
that purpose. Great fun...even gets the police and fire dept's
working it.
