I can't give a general reference on this subject, but there are certainly plenty of exhibits, especially in history museums, that are trying to cope with gender issues. We have several at CHS, inluding permanent exhibitions on the American Revolution and Civil War, as well as a temporary one called Becoming American Women (on the immigration of eastern european jewish women to the US) and our big exhibit on the Columbian Exposition, Grand Illusions(mentionedhere several days ago).
