DESCRIPTION
Purpose of Classification
The purpose of this classification is to oversee the daily operations of one of the remote museums in Collier County, Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Roberts Ranch. Employees in this classification also act as project manager for the restoration and interpretation of new museum projects.
 
Essential Functions
•	Manages and maintains the daily operations of one of the remote museums in Collier County; plans and executes museum events.
•	 Manages and maintains public programs; manages educational activities; plans and installs museum exhibitions.
•	 Organizes, researches, sets up, and publicizes all traveling exhibits.
 Cares for and conserves museum collections.
•	 Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals; manages volunteers.
•	 Develops community and professional contacts; promotes public awareness of all of the Museum's activities.
•	 Prepares grant and funding requests; monitors grants; files grant reports.
 Supervises site maintenance.
•	 Writes and submits news releases to promote the activities of the Museum.
 Oversees the restoration of new projects; promotes public awareness of these new projects.
•	 Operates a computer, printer, facsimile machine, adding machine, copier, telephone, automobile, electric drill, hand tools, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
•	 Performs other related duties as required.
•	 In the event of a declared state of emergency, employees in this classification may be called to work during days or hours other than those for which they are regularly scheduled.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts or Education, with a concentration in History, Archeology, or Art History, or closely related field; five years of experience in museum management, the administration of funds and personnel, fundraising, curatorial, historic preservation, or educational programming; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsements and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805. Fingerprinting required.
