Sorry to reply to you personally, I wasn't sure if you'd want this out in the list-serv. You're welcome to share if you want!

My mother is an IRS agent and I am always asking her questions like this! She has said that it is technically not a deduction since the trip is not required and is mostly a trip for pleasure. I know that's probably not the news that you wanted, but I thought I'd share.   
I would try to bring your badge/ identification as museums often give discounted tickets to fellow museum employees.
