In light of the recent discussion on reproductions of
artworks I was interested to see that Trident Software
of Vienna, VA is offering a screensaver program called
Artscreens. With permission from museums including the
Louvre, the National Gallery in London and the Museum of
Modern Art in New York City, Artscreens includes works
of 40 masters, including Titian, Turner and Matisse.
Paintings are shown uncropped in their original proportions,
with information and credits. In addition to the usual
outlets you can find this for sale in some university and
museum shops. My husband says it is for sale at the
Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum shop.
