Good morning everyone! My fellow museum staff and I are working to ship a nineteenth century demi-lune card table from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Laurel, Maryland. Unfortunately, after receiving a couple of quotes from local antique shipping companies, we have found it to be quite cost prohibitive. The wood the table is made from is listed under a CITES restriction, which limits the point of entry the table can be imported into the United States and requires certain permits and permissions to enter. Does anyone have any experience shipping antique furniture from Canada to the United States that could offer advice and/or suggestions on shipping companies and Canadian agencies we need to contact if we were to fill out the paperwork and permits ourselves? Feel free to email me directly at [log in to unmask] or call me at 301-377-7836. If I am not in the office, please call the museum's main line at 301-377-7817. I'm not always in my office but someone at the main desk will usually be able to find me. Thank you in advance!
