The Bowdoin College Museum of Art is accepting applications for the
following position:
CURATORIAL ASSISTANT
BOWDOIN COLLEGE MUSEUM OF ART
Full-time, year-round (two-year appointment beginning 7/1/2001) position
to assist the Museum Curator in research and administrative tasks for
temporary exhibitions. Other responsibilities include: actively
facilitate and promote use of the Museum collections as teaching
resources for College faculty and students and other scheduled visitors;
draft and/or produce exhibition labels; schedule and organize
educational programs; draft and distribute local, national and
international public relations materials for the Museum; maintain the
Museum’s website; and represent the Museum to various groups on campus,
in the community and the state. Requirements include: Bachelor’s
degree (graduating senior or recent graduate of an undergraduate liberal
arts program) with a major or strong minor in art history; an excellent
academic record; a commitment to museum work; and strong computer skills
including word processing, graphic design, photo and database
applications (familiarity with scanning and html preferred). Knowledge
of museum operations, and museum and/or professional work experience
strengthen the application.
