Provenance Researcher (Temporary position) The Los Angeles County Museum of Art seeks an Art Historian to continue provenance research on paintings, sculptures, drawings, and prints already begun on its permanent collection. This is a full time position requiring expertise in modern art and in related research methodologies, and proficiency in the French and German Languages (written required, with spoken desired), Italian and Dutch are also useful. Specialized knowledge of late 19th-century to mid 20th century art and of the World War II period essential. Responsibilities include library and archival research; maintenance and development of files and databases; and coordination of independent research activities with museum curatorial and collections management departments. The candidate must be highly motivated, enjoy independent research, able to work well with others, and conversant with national and international library and archival resources, as well as museum procedures. M.A. degree, three to five years' museum experience preferred. Computer literacy required. Salary commensurate with experience.
