I have been asked to share my answer to the list question...what is the Human Mind and Body program at Museum Victoria?
An off-the-cuff answer is that the Human Mind and Body program is a new concept in program research, collecting and interpretation - to be reflected for the first time in the new Melbourne Museum.
Melbourne Museum is opening next year as one of Museum Victoria's campuses and will be the largest museum in the Southern Hemisphere. (You all knew about this, didn't you?)
There will be a Human Mind and Body gallery in the new museum and my program colleages and I are working on four exhibitions for Day One, which are generalised as follows;
- Mapping the Mind and Body (conceptualisation and mapping of the mind and body from Egyptian times to the present)
- Biotechnology and Beyond
- Highlights of the Mind and Body (systems and functions)
- Medical Research in Melbourne
(All working titles)
I'm in design meetings, so better go!
Adrienne

Adrienne -
Your job title intrigues me. Could you please explain what the Human Mind and Body Program is all about? I'm probably not the only person who would be interested so maybe you could respond to the list.
Thanks,
Anne Hartmann

From Melbourne, Australia; Dear all,
I read every message on Museum-L as the start to my working day and although I am geographically remote from my European and American colleagues, it certainly doesn't feel like it.... my contact through the list serves to reinforce the commonality of our goals, problems and experiences as museum workers. The parochialism of my US colleagues makes me smile and think 'here they go again!' - I rather enjoy the banter. It's up to us around the world to kick in if we want presence on the list, but I think most people are like me - I read everything but only send messages when I really need to....

Subject: Global list?
Some time ago I asked on this list if there would be any people interested
in having a Dutch mailinglist. Most of the reactions were very strong. It
was not desirable to have too many different lists. We should stay global.
If I could not find something in this list for me, maybe I should contribute
more.
Well, I took those suggestions to heart en stayed on this list. I have been
reading for a while now, and I noticed that most people here just assume
that everything happens in the USA.
I must say that I find this very annoying. If this is a US-list only, okay,
I will hold my breath. But if you want to be global, please do not assume
that everyone is in the states.
Am I the only one who thinks about it this way? How do other non-USA
subscribers think about this?
Greetings,
Karin Meijerman,
