I read every message on Museum-L as the start to my working day and although I am geographically remote from my European and American colleagues, it certainly doesn't feel like it.... my contact through the list serves to reinforce the commonality of our goals, problems and experiences as museum workers. The parochialism of my US colleagues makes me smile and think 'here they go again!' - I rather enjoy the banter. It's up to us around the world to kick in if we want presence on the list, but I think most people are like me - I read everything but only send messages when I really need to....

Subject: Global list?
Some time ago I asked on this list if there would be any people interested
in having a Dutch mailinglist. Most of the reactions were very strong. It
was not desirable to have too many different lists. We should stay global.
If I could not find something in this list for me, maybe I should contribute
more.
Well, I took those suggestions to heart en stayed on this list. I have been
reading for a while now, and I noticed that most people here just assume
that everything happens in the USA.
I must say that I find this very annoying. If this is a US-list only, okay,
I will hold my breath. But if you want to be global, please do not assume
that everyone is in the states.
Am I the only one who thinks about it this way? How do other non-USA
subscribers think about this?
