I have several black or brown combs, as well as, one red comb that were excavated from a 1860's to 1870's hospital privy. From the research I have done so far, they might be made of hard rubber or cellulose nitrate. Would anyone know how to tell the difference between these materials so I can identify what they are made of? Also, how do I conserve them?
