POSITION AVAILABLE TITLE: HAF Collections Manager REPORTS TO: Director of Museum Services JOB STATUS: 1 Year position; Full time (35 hours per week), possibility of renewal JOB OPEN: Accepting applications through December 10, 1999 REQUIREMENTS: Experience in the care and management of museum collections, MA or higher in Art History, Decorative Arts, American Studies, Museum Studies, or related field. SUMMARY: A new staff position to manage Historic Annapolis Foundation's cultural artifact collection (furnishings, decorative arts, tools, and other related objects) as well as to work with other HAF staff in the management of the archaeology, historic plant, and archival collections. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: · Update/maintain all collections records, conduct inventories, and monitor object condition for the cultural artifact collection; work with the appropriate members of the Museum Services team to do the same for the archaeology, archival, and historic plant collections. · Accession, deaccession, and process loans according to HAF's Collection Management Policy for the cultural artifact collection. · Work with other members of the Collections Committee to set up and implement long and short term goals related to all HAF collections (i.e. adequate storage, collection surveys, automating collections catalogs, Collections Management Policy revision.) · Work with other members of the Museum Services Team to develop and implement tours, exhibits, and other educational projects. · Conduct volunteer training on collections-related topics and answer volunteer and visitor questions related to the William Paca House collection. · Chair the William Paca House Guild, a group of volunteers and staff that oversee the furnishings at the William Paca House. · Work with Building Conservation Director to assure the physical security of HAF's collections. · Attend Museum Services Team meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings as determined by the Museum Services Team. Follow HAF financial and administrative procedures.
