I have been working with Carol Spencer, newly retired chief designer at Mattel, on an idea for an exhibition about First Lady reproduction gowns. The gowns are specifically made for a Barbie size doll. From a recent design competition at the Barbie Collector's annual conference we had a small number of "First Lady" dressed dolls meet the mark. Now I am looking for other sample dolls or collections that are dressed a la First Lady. Anyone out there know of a collector that has dolls, Barbie size, dressed in First Lady style costumes? I understand there is someone in Ann Arbor, Michigan and another one living in Huntsville, Alabama. I already have a tip on Madame Alexander dolls dressed as first ladies. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. O Olivia S.
