As a multi-year veteran of museum-l I have seen a great number of posts that were helpful, informative, amusing and thought-provoking. I have also deleted a lot of "banter". It is interesting to me that so many members feel that the "banter" on museum-l is somehow worse than on other lists. I accept that this may be true, but wonder what it is about the museum profession that would cause this. Could it be a by-product of having to defend doing something rewarding for little pay and little appreciation? Just some more banter.
