The Tech Museum of Innovation Full-time Position Available Membership Manager The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future. The Membership Manager is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Vice President, Development. The Membership Manager is responsible for acquisition and retention of The Tech's growing membership base. This position will oversee all membership activities, including on-site and direct mail campaigns, membership payment processing, benefit fulfillment, and membership events. The Membership Manager will supervise a dedicated membership team of four regular employees and recruit temporary personnel as necessary. Responsibilities: · Be knowledgeable of The Tech's mission, exhibits, programs and long-range plans and stay current with the functioning of the entire institution. · Responsible for the overall development and implementation of the Membership department's operational management plan. Responsible for reporting actual vs. target based on plan. · Manage direct mail and on-site appeals for new members and donors. Oversee the membership renewal process and develop programs to retain and upgrade current members. · Develop benefits and special promotions to encourage a dynamic membership. · Develop methods for using The Tech Online and e-mail to communicate with donors and recruit new members. · Suggest creative methods to acknowledge gifts in a variety of ways and enhance stewardship for all donors. · Supervise a membership team of two full-time employees, two to three part-time employees and additional temporary staff as needed. · Provide the principal staffing for the Membership Committee and conduct quarterly meetings. · Collaborate closely with other departments -- including Admissions, Volunteer Services, Marketing, Finance and Engineering -- to enhance opportunities to recruit and retain members and donors. · Work with the Events Manager on creative and fun membership events. · Assist with other Development and museum events. · Work as Museum's floor staff on assigned weekdays, weekend days and holiday (1 day per month and 1 holiday per year). Qualifications: · Three to five years of development experience, with a proven track record in membership management and growth. · Bachelor's degree or equivalent. · Analytical and detail-oriented. · Excellent written and oral communication skills. · IBM PC computer systems experience required: DOS, Windows, and word processing and database programs. Experience with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge software highly preferable. · Ability to work with highly confidential information in a fast-paced environment. · Availability for special events. · Ability to work independently and creatively while functioning as part of the development and overall Museum team. · Appreciation of the educational mission of The Tech.
