A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE: Exploring the Big Impact of Small Museums Transcripts from the Fifth Annual Directors Forum are Released The American Federation of Arts is pleased to announce the publication of the transcripts from the AFA's Fifth Annual Directors Forum, held in New York City last fall, containing the presentations of distinguished representatives from the arts, museums, educational and cultural organizations, and the business community. Schuyler G. Chapin, Commissioner of New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs, delivered an eloquent keynote address at the opening dinner held at the National Arts Club. The Directors Forum, established by the AFA in 1994, provides a singular opportunity for leaders of smaller art museums to engage distinguished leaders in the museum world, the arts, government, and business, and to network with colleagues. Titled A Unique Perspective: Exploring the Big Impact of Small Museums, the Directors Forum attracted 85 participants from across North America, the Caribbean, and Europe. The two days of workshops, panels, and discussions, followed by illuminating gallery tours, took place at eminent city institutions including the Drawing Center, Fisher Landau Center, The Forbes Magazine Gallery, New Museum of Contemporary Art, Pierpont Morgan Library, and P. S. 1 Contemporary Art Center. The publication of the Directors Forum Transcripts is made possible by The Joe and Emily Lowe Foundation.
