Euclid, the EC Cultural Contact Point, in their latest issue of Alert have pointed out two important calls for proposals. Culture 2000 The EC are launching a pilot programme for Culture 2000. This is the programme which covers the activities of previous cultural programmes such as Raphael and Kaleidoscope. The call for proposals (request for applications) is due to be published in the Official Journal at the End of May or early June. There are three actions: * Experimental and innovative new projects * Co-operation agreements * Special events of a European character The deadline for all three actions is 15 July 1999. For further information contact Euclid, the EC Cultural Contact Point. You can either e-mail them to register for information: [log in to unmask] or visit their website www.euclid.co.uk CONNECT Initiative This is a programme developed by both DGX (culture) and DGXX11 (education and training). Essential criteria for this call are that projects should have an integrated appporach covering education, training and culture whilst recognising new technologies. With a budget of 15 million Euros (as opposed to 3 million for the Culture 2000 pilot) this is a valuable programme. The four strands to the programme are: * to develop signatories in the field of cultural affairs and cultural projects associating with education institutions and providers; * to reduce the lack of co-operation between Culture, Education and NewTechnologies; * to introduce training for young people through cultural projects; * to encourage further training for cultural trainers and trainees and artists. Innovation and new ideas are encouraged throughout. Again deadline is 15 July 1999 and Euclid can provide further information.
