[Please excuse cross postings, and forward to possibly interested students/parties] The Visitor Studies Association (VSA) is holding its annual conference in Chicago from August 3 to 7, and although the deadline for general proposals is past we are still accepting proposals for a student marketplace session. This session would allow current and recent students to showcase their work at the conference. For more information about VSA or the 1999 conference, please visit our web site at http://museum.cl.msu.edu/vsa/ The deadline for proposals for the student marketplace session is May 15, and proposals should be sent via email to Steven Yalowitz (VSA Student Board Member) at [log in to unmask] There are 4 spots left in the session and the following is a description of the student marketplace session: The marketplace will be a chance for students and/or recent students to discuss, compare, and showcase their research. The session will be somewhat less formal than either a presentation or poster session, and participating in the marketplace will not preclude a person from presenting that research in another forum at the conference (e.g. you can do a poster or paper and participate in the marketplace session with the same research). The basic idea is to give a chance for VSA members and conference attendees to find out what students are researching or focusing on, and to talk to the students about their areas of interest. Typically, a student would be sitting at a table, with handouts if requested, ready to discuss their research.
