Illinois State Museum Position Vacancy Announcement Education Coordinator The Illinois State Museum, Springfield, seeks a full-time Education Coordinator for Public Programs. The primary responsibility of this individual is to coordinate all aspects of the Museum's public programming efforts. Public programs include lectures, field trips, youth and adult workshops, film series, and special events. Duties include scheduling and planning public programs; developing new programs; registration; public program promotion and evaluation; and coordinating volunteers for various Section initiatives.The Coordinator is also expected to teach public programs and school programs as necessary. The Coordinator is also responsible for preparing written materials for Museum publications, brochures and flyers. The Coordinator may represent the Education Section and/or Museum at meetings when the Chair is unavailable. Occasional evening and weekend work are required. Requirements include a B.A. or equivalent in education, art, anthropology,or natural science; M.A. preferred. One to three years of work experience as an educator in a museum, nature center or similar informal educational setting or school required. Experience in museum public programming and working with volunteers preferred. Must have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to write effective program copy and press releases. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple, simultaneous deadlines. Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits.
