Registrar, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (available immediately) Head registrar position supervising high volume "full service" registrar's office responsible for approximately 25 exhibitions on average annually; traveling exhibitions (25 on average annually); temporary and long-term loans (300); acquisitions of all types (2000); outgoing loans (100 transactions); loan contracts; fine art insurance and indemnities; shipping, customs and couriers; condition reporting; inventory, labeling and record keeping; copyright acquisitions for gifts and purchases; and some collections management. Must have administrative experience preparing and managing departmental and programmatic budgets, as well as proven supervisory skill, training and instructing staff and planning departmental workload and goals. Ability to problem solve, think critically and analytically, work as a team player (hands on as needed) and communicate effectively on all levels. Must be detail oriented, well organized, adaptable, even tempered and fair with professional demeanor. Sound knowledge of insurance and legal principles governing registration policies, practices and decision making. Will be expected to provide direction on a multi-year CMS implementation and data clean-up project. Minimum qualifications: B.A. in art history or a related field and five years' experience in a registrar's office in a comparable museum.
