Subject: [MUSEUM-L] accessioning and other jargon
OK, folks--here's the next great challenge for a potentially
interminable Museum-L thread: authentic museum jargon which cannot be
found in a standard dictionary. At the moment, I can't think of any
candidates! I'm sure someone will be happy to remedy that.

My candidate is 'committee', as used by ICOM. It means: "a group, of
thousands of people, and potentially hundreds of thousands of people,
with a common interest, run by a board".

Maybe it's used in this sense in other international settings, too,
and so isn't a museum word.
