EDUCATION PROGRAM DIRECTOR

        The Center for American Archeology has an immediate opening for an
Education Program Director. The Center has offered educational programs
for over forty years and continues to connect with the public in new and
exciting ways.  Our current educational programming includes both
time-tested core programs and new offerings that range from decidedly
low-tech hands-on field schools to computer technology experiences.
        The director oversees and is responsible for all aspects of the
program.  This includes, but is not limited to: supervision of permanent
and temporary staff, development and implementation of curricula for a
wide variety of public audiences, administrative duties, grant writing,

        The successful candidate will have a strong archeology background, a
primary interest in educating the public about archeology, experience
teaching a variety of age groups and, at a minimum, working knowledge of
the prehistory of the midcontinental United States - experience
conducting research in the Midwest is preferred.  Excellent
interpersonal skills are mandatory and administrative skills highly
desirable.  An advanced degree in anthropology/archeology or a related
field required; Ph.D. is preferred.  Salary range begins at $25,000 per
annum plus benefits.
