Are there any museums, especially historic houses, out there that have a rule of no children under the age of xxx? If so, what is the rationale behind it? Hillwood currently allows only children 12 and over to tour the grounds and house. Our collections are installed period room style and visitors are allowed to enter the rooms. However, they must stay on the carpets that run the length of the rooms with no barrier. Have those of you who work in museums/historic houses that do allow children, experienced any problems with children running amok and trying to touch objects in period type rooms? How do you handle this issue? Angela Roberts Interpretation Coordinator Hillwood Museum & Gardens Washington, DC [log in to unmask]
