The Tech Museum of Innovation Full-time Position Available Science Education Coordinator The Tech Museum of Innovation is an educational resource established to engage people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and experiencing technologies affecting their lives and to inspire the young to become innovators in the technologies of the future. The Science Education Coordinator reports to the Science Education Manager. This full-time, exempt position provides exposure to all aspects of the science education program, including supervision of Pathways Interns, lab design and instruction of labs. Primary emphasis is to instruct the hands-on science and technology labs offered for elementary through secondary school students and to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Pathways Interns program. Responsibilities: · Teach hands-on science and technology labs (groups of 32-36) with an engaging style. · Collaborate in the development of new labs and support material to promote interest in learning about science and technology through The Tech. · Collaborate with department staff to create, and implement special programs. · Support the day-to-day operations of the science lab. These operations include lab prep and clean-up, inventory, daily instruction and preparation of written materials for students and educators. · Coordinate supervision of Pathways student interns. · Work with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of internship program. · Coordinate and support intern mentoring program. · Assist with Education Department and museum special events. · Collaborate with department staff and Online Services to maintain current information related to science labs. · Serve as support instructor for the Idea Lab (technology-based activities). · Share weekend responsibilities with department staff. · Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: * College degree in science, technology and/or comparable field of study * Previous experience working with or experience supervising high school through college age students * Teaching credential and minimum of two years of successful classroom experience desired * Proficiency in the use of technology for teaching and as a tool for learning * Ability to effectively participate in department and cross department project teams * Collaborative, enthusiastic individual with excellent communications skills. Must be flexible and be willing to adapt to the museum's needs. * Must be available to work on evenings, weekends and holidays. * Commitment to The Tech's educational mission, exhibits, programs and long-range plans.
