If you go to the Menu Bar tools > data analysis > (take Histograms from the pop up window) The data analysis functions need to be "added" to Excel. The exact method varies with the version of Excel. It's possible you may have left them out and therefore missed them. There are a number of statistical functions available under the data analysis.
