Aspen Historical Society Seeks Executive Director The Aspen Historical Society, Aspen, Colorado, a rapidly growing educational institution in this internationally renowned resort community includes: a major new museum/educational facility in concept phase and expected to open by 2005, the Wheeler/Stallard historic house currently under restoration, two historic ghost towns, and a mining/ranching site. AHS seeks executive director who, challenged to create unforgettable learning experiences, will work closely with AHS board, and be responsible for developing/managing a $450,000 budget and permanent staff of 5 1/2 persons expanding to 10 in the summer. Responsibilities: oversight of all programs, facilities, collections and staff including reviews, meetings, training, strategic planning, and fund raising in partnership with development director. Acting as spokesperson, this energetic, articulate person must ensure the organization's visible and effective public image. Qualifications: 5+ years of proven leadership as director/assistant director in museum and/or non-profit management. Experience with capital campaigns/construction, work with consultants, and management of volunteers. Goals-oriented. Strong interpersonal/communication skills and understanding of the applications of technology in a cultural setting desired.
