THE 1998 DIRECTORS FORUM The Directors Forum has become a conduit for the information and inspiration that has redefined the role of art museums today. Each year, art museum leaders gather in New York to discuss the successes and failures that advance their mission within communities nationwide. The conference is an opportunity to rediscover the power of art to captivate, challenge, and educate. This year's program, A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE: Exploring the Big Impact of Small Museums is designed to foster a dialogue among museum professionals from institutions of all sizes through panel sessions, discussion groups, and workshops. Make plans to join us this Fall on November 8-10. Participants will experience the vast diversity of art institutions in New York during visits to The Drawing Center, The Fisher Landau Foundation, The Forbes Magazine Galleries, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, The National Arts Club, The Pierpont Morgan Library, and PS 1. Registration includes all sessions, gallery tours, opening dinner, two lunches, evening receptions and limited transportation. Printed programs will be available in July. Meanwhile, please send for a complimentary copy of the transcripts from last year's program, GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS: Art Museums in a Market Environment, made possible by The Joe and Emily Lowe Foundation. If you have never attended the Directors Forum, this provides an excellent chance to learn more about this conference. Registration is limited to art museum directors who are not members of the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD).
