EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ICOM '98 NEW MUSEUM DEVELOPMENT SESSION ICOM '98 Conference and General Assembly 1998 The 18th Triennial ICOM General Conference and Assembly will be held in Melbourne (Australia) from Saturday 10th to Friday 16th October, 1998 at the World Congress Centre. The theme of ICOM '98 is Museums and Cultural Diversity: Ancient Cultures, New Worlds. The Conference will consist of plenary sessions featuring major keynote addresses by internationally respected museum professionals. In addition to the plenary sessions of the General Conference, the forum will also host independent specialist sessions of the 25 International Committees of ICOM. This session will focus on: * the development of new museums, * consultation, planning and realisation of the development, * financing, staffing and marketing strategies, and * the impact on vision, policies and organisational culture SUMMARY - International Museum Development Session The International Museum Development Session will be held on the morning of Monday, 12th October 1998. Expected session program: 8.30am - Registration 9.30am - 4 presentations 10.30am - Question Time 11.00am - Morning Tea 11.30am - 4 presentations 12.30pm - Question Time 1.00pm - Lunch Each speaker will be expected to give a 15 minute presentation on their development of a new museum. Presenters may use slide, overhead and computer equipment.
