Since 1991 we have used a uniformed non-student guard who is part of the campus security force. My experience with students was: 1. They don't dress like guards so their deterrent effect is minimal. 2. They don't act like guards and are reluctant to confront visitors who break the rules. 3. It is a nightmare to schedule the number of students needed to cover all the gallery's open hours.
