It sounds as though you are talking about building a projecting zoetrope (drawing a sequence of pictures, placing them in a prepared cylinder with slots, rotating it, and viewing the pictures through the slots). A presume a slide projector does not accomplish your goals because it doesn't create a moving image. How about making a movie or a videotape? You could then use a video or movie projector to get the images to the wall/ceiling. You might want to investigate the laser projector.
