A great number of museums offer free admission to their members. Others also add the benefit of free admission for guests accompanying members. This museum, in a rural Appalachian community, began its membership program nearly 20 years ago by offering every member the unlimited use of the guest privilege. Dues start at $10 for senior citizens. Admission rate for seniors is now $5. We plan to change this and I would appreciate information from other museums on the matter of "guest privileges." It is our intention to provide two guest tickets with each renewal for seniors and families ($35). We would provide six for Sustaining renewals ($100). The tickets would have no expiration date. Patrons ($500) and higher categories would retain the unlimited guest privileges. In a small town, this would be an earth-shattering change that would surely be the topic at the bridge groups, etc. I want to be more certain of how other museums handle their membership benefits (we give 10% discounts on gifts and books, provide a quarterly newsletter, have occasional socials). We've tripled our membership in the last three years and want to keep it that way! Reply privately to: [log in to unmask] Thanks Ross Weeks
