THE TECH MUSEUM OF INNOVATION FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE VISITOR EXPERIENCE MANAGER The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future. The Visitor Experience Manager oversees and coordinates the exhibit and floor program experiences in the museum. This creative, people-oriented individual will work with Volunteer Services, Exhibit Engineering, Public Programs and Education staff to ensure that our visitors enjoy and learn more about science and technology through engaging, educational experiences. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Implement and manage floor programs and demonstrations with the assistance of volunteers and other staff. * Create and develop informal and formal visitor programs in science and technology with Education and Public Programs staff. * Train and support volunteers in their work with visitors. * Develop long-term training plan with the Volunteer Services Manager. * Work with Engineering staff to assure that all exhibits, sound, signage and lighting support the visitor experience. * Work with Exhibits, Engineering and other departments to test and assess new exhibits. * Keep up to date about The Tech's education and public programs, membership, special events and related visitor information. Work with other staff to maintain attractive, accessible brochures and other materials. * Coordinate regular training and drills for staff and volunteers for the Injury and Illness Prevention Program of The Tech Museum. The Visitor Experience Manager is the designated Incident Commander for emergencies and coordinates the evacuation of the museum. * Assist with evaluations of the visitor experience and work with staff to use the feedback to inform program and exhibit development and to improve customer service. * Responsibilities include working one day each weekend based on a five day work week. REQUIREMENTS: * Degree in science, education or related field and/or equivalent experience in a museum, making public presentations and/or working with volunteers. * Experience with training or educating adults and/or children. * High interest in science and technology and passion for life-long learning and working with people. * Commitment to The Tech's mission. * Ability to set priorities and work on projects simultaneously. * Energetic, dynamic and creative individual who welcomes challenges with a willingness to problem solve. * Excellent public speaking, communications and presentation skills. * Fluency in a second language is valued. * Willingness to work on weekends and holidays.
