Employment Opportunity, American Association of Museums Museum Standards Assistant Accreditation and Museum Standards Department This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person to participate a major national effort to establish museum standards. The nation's largest museum association seeks a Museum Standards Assistant to provide technical and research support for the Technical Information Service, assisting in the ongoing investigation into museum standards and best practices. Duties include investigating, preparing for review, and procuring best practices documentation, researching for responses to most frequently asked museum questions, and compilation of information for the first electronic responses. The Museum Standards Assistant will be part of an exciting team effort to improve dissemination about museum standards and practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational ability and flexibility necessary. Requires a thorough knowledge of current museum terminology. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to conduct research, facility with desktop publishing and database management, and a basic knowledge of museum operations and enthusiasm for their programs. A Bachelor's degree, career goals in the museum profession required. Museum Studies graduate student preferred. This position is 20 hours a week, for 8-9 months beginning in September 1997, and pays $8.00 per hour.
