RELOCATION AND VISIBLE STORAGE An A.R.C. Professional Development Seminar 1997 This Professional Development Seminar "Relocation and Visible Storage", organised by the Australian Registrars Committee, will address the issues arising from major relocations of Museum and Gallery collections. The seminar will examine as case studies the impending move of the Museum of Victoria to its Exhibition Gardens site from the point of view of management and storage design, and the experiences of the major relocation of Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington. The seminar will also address the practical and ethical issues of visible storage, and examine examples in Australia, including Scienceworks and the Australian War Memorial. The seminar encompasses 1.5 days of papers and a panel discussion, and a site tour of the new Moreland Annexe (state of the art storage) of the Museum of Victoria. Speakers include Lesley Cobb (Relocations Officer, Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa), and Martin Hallett (Director of Collection and Regional Services, Museum of Victoria), and Vince Wilcox (Smithsonian Museum, USA) as a member of a discussion panel.
