Position title: Student Intern (2 positions) Closing date: April 30, 1997 Approximate starting date: May 19, 1997 Approximate ending date: August 8, 1997 Description: Wickliffe Mounds Research Center is an on-site museum of a prehistoric Mississippian period village (1100 A.D.-1350 A.D.) Permanent exhibits and archaeological excavations are the primary focus of museum interpretation. Interns are responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the museum and site. Archaeological experience is helpful but not necessary. Duties: Assisting in day-to-day operations of the museum and site; includes working with the public on a daily basis and during special events; museum operations; and general office maintenance. Desired qualifications: A background in any or all of the following: North American archaeology, anthropology, museum operations, and public interpretation. Candidates should be motivated, and able to work independently. Applications will be accepted from graduate and upper-level undergraduate students. Special considerations: Minimum hourly wage plus on-site lodging will be provided. Wickliffe Mounds is located in rural western Kentucky. Work schedule: 40 hours per week. Working weekends is required. Starting and ending dates can be negotiated to fit individual schedules.
