INTERNSHIP POSITION PANHANDLE-PLAINS HISTORICAL MUSEUM COSTUME AND TEXTILE COLLECTION The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, located on the campus of West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, is soliciting applications for a qualified museum studies intern. The position will begin on January 6, 1997 and end on June 27, 1997. The intern will work with the Museum's exentsive late 19th and 20th century costume and textile collection under the supervision of the Assistant Curator of History. Job responsibilities will include: rehousing of the permanent collection, including clothing and related objects and flat textiles, basic documentation and inventory of the collection. The intern will also assist in the development, preparation and installation of a costume exhibit. Requirements include a B.A. in museum studies, history, art history, or clothing and textiles and graduate level courses in museum registration methods, collection managment and basic preservation. A background and interest in costumes and textiles is preferred. The Museum will provide an efficiency apartment within walking distance to the Museum and a monthly stipend of $500.00.
