You are invited to attend.............. CAPITALIZE ON COLLECTIONS CARE: A FUNDRAISING WORKSHOP OCTOBER 28, 1996 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM MISSION INN, RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA Registration Fee: $60 CAM Members / $75 General (includes lunch and site tour) This all-day workshop is designed for directors, development officers, curators and other museum professionals responsible for, or interested in, incorporating collections care into their fundraising activities. As federal funds for cultural institutions are increasingly threatened in the current political climate, institutions must expand their fund raising to new horizons. To address this issue, the California Association of Museums (CAM) and the National Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Property (NIC) are cosponsoring this workshop at the Historic Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. The program will teach how museums, libraries, and historic preservation organizations can make a fundraising case using collections care. The program focuses on the private sector and state and local governments as new sources of support for collections care, conservation and preservation. “Capitalize on Collections Care” will demonstrate how institutions can creatively incorporate collections care, conservation and preservation into fundraising activities. Collections care CAN be an effective tool for raising money and invigorating a fundraising program. The program will teach creative approaches to integrating collections care into basic fundraising strategies such as annual appeals, capital campaigns, earned income, planned giving and adopt-an-object programs.
