How about this idea as a way to increase salaries: if people apply for jobs and request a higher salary than what is advertised. Allow me to explain. Jane Doe is working as a <fill in the blank> making 31K. She sees an ad in Aviso for a position which requires the same as her current position, only the advertised salary is stated as "low twenties." Assuming Jane's position is not in Los Angeles and the advertised position is in Topeka, Jane should apply for the position, noting her current salary. If museums advertising jobs at x pay rate only receive applications from individuals who require a higher salary for the position description - would the museum not have to adjust what it is willing to pay? - Adrienne
