The Daily Telegraph of 30/7/96 carried advance information about the Department of National Heritage's review of Museums. The report said there was to be UK Pounds 5 million for digitising museum and gallery collections, financed by the UK National Lottery. the Government is also looking at links with cable TV Companies - there are 3 pilot schemes with Telewest in Dudley, Edinburgh and Croydon. Museums will be expected to build 'a full national catalogue of treasures', and the British Tourist Authority has been asked to look at a strategy for presenting UK Heritage.
