After all this the first time in my museums-life I would estimate my own=20 museum as a big museum. We have an annual found aof about 4.000.000.--=20 DM, a scientific staff of 8 people, a conservation departement of 4=20 professionells, two librarians and a one person middle management, two=20 people doing the administrations/bookkeeping (money only, no registrars -= =20 we don't have that kind of people here), guards, cleaning people, a=20 house-warden,a director and perhaps 1.000.000 objects. We're not a small=20 museum, but never a big one. We are possibly comparable with that museum=20 on the Great Lakes a few mails before, b=A3t what makes a museum really a= =20 big one ?=20 Gerhard Dangel-Reese Augustinermuseum Freiburg Head of Computer Departement Keeper of the Cabinet of Coins and Medalls Keeper of Special Collections (Welte Collection) Security Supervisor (What a pity, since two years and still going on) Head On Mon, 20 May 1996, John Martinson=20 wrote: > Operating budget, attendance, location, funding, etc. etc., > are all methods to determine a small museum from the larger > musuems. =20 >=20 > We have 22 buildings, 15 acres, but indeed, we are a small > museum, with a small staff, small city (community support,)=20 > small (very small funding,) only 27,000 artifacts and > 20,000 to 22,000 visitors a year.
